Assignr: Why an Accepted Game Requires Confirmation Again

You’ve already accepted a game in Assignr. The assignment appears on your schedule, and everything seems settled.

Then another notification arrives asking you to confirm the same game again.

It may look like a duplicate request, but Assignr has a specific reason for doing this.

When certain game details change, Assignr resets the confirmation requirement so officials can acknowledge the updated assignment.

Accepting a Game Isn’t Always the Final Step

Assignr allows referees and umpires to accept or decline assignments issued by their assignors.

Once a game is published, assigned officials receive a notification asking them to respond.

The accepted status tells the assignor that the official is available for the scheduled assignment.

However, that acceptance applies to the game details as they existed at the time.

If important scheduling information changes, Assignr may require another confirmation.

Which Changes Require Reconfirmation?

According to Assignr’s official documentation, officials must reconfirm their assignments when the following details change:

  • Game date
  • Start time
  • Venue
  • Sub-venue, such as a particular field or court
  • Game cancellation or restoration

These changes can affect whether an official is still able to work.

For example, moving a game to another location may create a travel conflict even when the date remains unchanged.

Reconfirmation gives the official an opportunity to review the new arrangement.

Not Every Change Resets Acceptance

Assignr distinguishes scheduling changes from other game updates.

Changes to the teams, age group, or game type generally trigger a notification without requiring the official to accept again.

This distinction is useful when reviewing multiple notifications.

A message about a different opponent doesn’t necessarily mean your assignment has become unconfirmed.

But a change to the venue or start time usually does.

Where to Find Unconfirmed Games

Open the Games section and select My Unconfirmed Games.

This page lists assignments that require a response.

Select Accept Game or Decline Game for the relevant assignment.

You can also use My Games to review the games currently assigned to you.

Don’t rely exclusively on an earlier confirmation message when a more recent schedule change has occurred.

What Happens When a Game Is Canceled?

Canceled games have their own unusual behavior.

Assignr asks officials to acknowledge a cancellation by confirming the changed assignment.

The canceled game may remain visible in the schedule, marked CANCELLED and displayed in red.

Accepting the canceled assignment doesn’t mean you’re agreeing to officiate a canceled game.

It confirms that you’ve received and acknowledged the cancellation information.

This helps the assignor know that officials are aware of the change.

Why Do Confirmation Reminders Keep Arriving?

Assignr sends daily reminders for assignments awaiting confirmation.

If a previously accepted game was rescheduled, it may return to your unconfirmed list.

Until you respond, the system can continue reminding you.

The practical solution is to review the updated game details and submit a new response.

Ignoring the reminder because you accepted the original assignment doesn’t complete the new confirmation.

Can You Decline After Accepting?

Assignr allows officials to change an earlier accept or decline response.

However, its documented rules prevent officials from declining a game through the system within 36 hours of the scheduled start time.

If you discover a last-minute conflict, contact your assignor directly.

Don’t assume the absence of a Decline button means the schedule cannot be changed under any circumstances.

It means the issue needs direct coordination.

What About Automatic Declines?

Some organizations enable an automatic-decline feature for assignments that aren’t accepted within a configured period.

However, Assignr specifies that this feature applies to the initial assignment.

When an already accepted game is changed and requires reconfirmation, the automatic-decline rule doesn’t apply in the same way.

Even so, officials should respond promptly so assignors know whether the updated assignment can be covered.

Check the Current Details, Not the Original Message

Before reconfirming, compare the latest game information with what you originally accepted.

Pay particular attention to the start time, venue, and field assignment.

If the revised details create a conflict, communicate that immediately.

An accepted game should reflect a commitment you can actually fulfill under the current schedule.

One Game Can Require Multiple Confirmations

Assignr treats important scheduling changes as new information that officials need to acknowledge.

That’s why an assignment can move from accepted back to unconfirmed without being a duplicate or a technical error.

If Assignr asks you to accept the same game again, check whether its date, time, venue, or status changed. Review the updated assignment before responding, and use My Unconfirmed Games to clear any outstanding confirmations.
